There is a book out on the strange, raw comic artist Fletcher Hanks. I had never heard of him until I saw the book at Strand but his stuff is great. It sounds as if his work has been rescued from obscurity by editor/artist Paul Karasik. This panel is from a story in the book called "Big Red McLane, King of the Northwoods." The drawings are bold and simple and he sure doesn't waste many words telling the stories. Apart from Big Red there is also "Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle" and "Stardust the Super Wizard".
