Ne'er Do Evers, led by my friend Chris Buckridge, has a new record out on End Up called 100% Wrong. It rocks. End Up has a great list of Brooklyn talent including Balthrop Alabama, Caithlin De Marrais, and Kyle Fisher. I also did Kyle's cover art last year for Black Milk. The Ne'ers describe their music as "fifty percent heavy thoughts and fifty percent knee-jerk reactions with a sound best described as full-on in-your-face visceral mooning, a distillation of art, alcohol and attitude—not only intoxicating but mind-numbing in a good way". I put on the rough mixes, started drawing, and this is what I came up with for the cover art.

that is such a wild image. i know you said you just put on rough mixes and started drawing, but where the hell'd this image come from? is any of it from specific lyrics or just your imagination inside their groove? i'll have to listen to their music now... so fun.
Hey Jen! The gold figure blowing a horn came from the side of a circus wagon, then I imagined the scene should be a pied piper kind of thing, or a biblical flood except its a party. I thought something called 100% wrong should be full of contradictions, something that looks meaningful but just isn't. The figures in the front came from an old sears catalog. Can't wait to see your new book!
thanks, Chayka. i love hearing more of the unseen thought process. i love the stream of conscious feel, the randomness and yet not.
I don't like the atmosphere of this image. it's like something of horror.
